Operating method
The drying drum is supplied with the wet product by means of a suitable feed device. Transporting blades on the feed side of the drum take up the product and carry it to the drum
fittings. The choice of drum fittings is determined by the product characteristics. The product is usually dried in direct flow with the wet product coming into contact with the hot drying
gas, the temperature of which my be as high as 1000 °C. How long the product remains in the drier, depends on the drum speed, the drum inclination, the flow rate of the drying gas and the
damming device at the end of the drum.
Advantages at first sight:
• evaporation capacity up to 15 t water/hour
• high throughput capacities with constant
final moisture, also with varying initial product
moistures.
• wide control range of the drying gas temperature
(150 – 1000 °C), so that the suitable drying
temperature can be adjusted for all products
• direct or indirect heating
• low fault liability – high operating safety
